The folks behind Bristol indie DIY label, Breakfast Records, have certainly been busy this year, with a number of their artists (Kate Stapley, Jamie Cruickshank, Langkamer to name a few) on the roster making some sweet sounds at present in the local music scene. The next release geared up from the label is Something Anorak, who are releasing their new album Bowling on 23rd March.
Following two albums, Tiny Island (2014) and Ageist EP (2015), the avante-garde lo-fi pair are back from a long hiatus with new music that’s both exciting and ready for action. The band’s endearing minimalistic and haunting sound has been sorely missed; now accompanied with more refreshed and lighter tones that are made for the warmer season ahead.
Woozy indie number ‘And In The Current State’ is the opening single from the forthcoming album, in which we’re delighted to premiere for you today, alongside a cool video with footage shot on a camera drone.
Talking about the new song, the band, said:
“it was one of the first songs we wrote for the new album, we wanted to make something that didn’t just sound like 2 guy’s noodling away on guitars and bashing on some drums, unfortunately thats exactly what it sounds like,”
On the video:
“Our friend Hugo likes to fly his drone, once he flew it and we both happened to be in it, thats pretty much the idea behind the vid.”
