Future jazzists, Hippo, have been hiding away in the studio and preparing for their much anticipated second EP. They have, however, made a music video to go alongside one of the new tunes and I think it may be one of the most creative music videos I’ve seen in a while. When they’re not blowing your mind with colourful synth lines and electro beats, they’re hanging out in a yellow van and getting up to all sorts of camaraderie. ‘Thirst’ is a future jazz dream, with poignant piano chords that mingle amongst the cacophony of synths whilst also delving into the math realm with off beat drum sequences. Check out the video for yourself, the sax solo at the very end is delicious.
Keep your eyes peeled for more from the trio, they’re next show is in Canterbury on the 29th (fingers crossed for a Bristol show soon). The first single from their next EP, ‘DAK’, will be born in early June.
