Kicking off the mid-summer time, festival vibes is Bristol Sounds. This local gem of a festival is boasting some amazing, Harbourside headliners this year with the likes of; The Cat Empire, Tom Misch and The Cinematic Orchestra to name a few! Amongst the big names there’s one blast from the past that we can’t wait to welcome back!
Raise an alarm, because indie originators, Bloc Party are breaking their silence this June, headlining Friday at Bristol Sounds. Kele Okereke and the band broke through the alternative rock scene in 2003 and dominated charts with six amazing albums; but it was their prized platinum, that happily haunts fans. The London quartet, previously broke their 2013 hiatus and celebrated 13 years of iconic album, Silent Alarm with a homecoming show at Alexandra Palace last October. The band are now extending the pleasure of a nostalgic album run through, to those that may have missed it.
If you can’t remember lazy summer evenings, cider in hand, with ‘Blue Light’ dancing in the long grassy background or jumping in a sweaty club to ‘Helicopter’ shouting at your friend “as if to say he doesn’t like chocolate”; you may have been too young or just accidentally missed what these indie rock sensations had to offer. Well now’s your chance to make Bloc Party the soundtrack to your summer and we strongly urge not to miss out on the emotional rollercoaster this album and live show is sure to bring! If you’re screaming, ‘I still remember’ at this, then we will see you there.
Bloc Party are playing on 28th June 2019 at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre. Old fans, new fans, festival fans are all in for a treat!
