July is officially here, which can only mean fluxative weather forecasts and full throttle festival season. I’ll be heading to the pocket sized Farmfest for the first time, located just outside of Bristol in the rolling Somerset hills, you can catch me with my glittery cape and yellow tinted sunglasses, and obligatory tinny in hand.
After taking a break last year, Farmfest is back and bolder than ever with a line-up that’s guaranteed to make you tingle. The impressive line-up boasts heavyweight headliners such as Portico Quartet and Morcheeba to some homegrown faves like Cousin Kula, Soeur, Snazzback and Heavy Lungs to name a few. My other picks include; balls to the wall brass outfit Wasabi, the funk-meister Craig Charles, afro-beat/reggae/get up and jive 10-piece Nubiyan Twist and don’t forget your dancing shoes for Alfresco Disco. I could talk a glass eye to sleep about how spoiled I am for this festival, here’s hoping that there aren’t any clashes.
A relatively small shindig, with 7 stages and 5000 happy campers, Farmfest is a great choice for first-time festival goers or long term music veterans who are well accustomed to the minimal-showering lifestyle. Along with the insane choice of music for the weekend, there are also opportunities to catch poetry, comedy as well as joining in with the hat competition.
Full line-up and details can be found via their website, I’ll see you there!
