Flamingods have a rather unique story and way of functioning. Split between Britain and Bahrain, they formed at a music festival and now write their material by emailing each other and meeting up occasionally for a mammoth practise and/or recording session. They produce the kind of folk psychodelia you’d associate with some of the acid drenched music from the late 60’s. It’s as complex as it is enjoyable; with a stage crowding collection of trans-global instruments few of us will ever have heard of.
Last time I saw them the sound check overran by nearly an hour as they worked their way through the multitude of unusual items. This tour is to promote their Kewali EP due for release on 26th May, so those of us who are already admirers will have some new material to look forward to.
