Fresh from the release of her critically acclaimed fifth studio album Be The Cowboy, indie rocker Mitski is currently touring the UK and is due to perform at Trinity Centre. Expect lush melodies and cinematic sounds from the Japanese-American singer-songwriter-overall-dreamboat.
Her latest release sees grand arrangements and raw vocal runs, check out the silky ‘Two Slow Dancers’ for woozy and bittersweet lyrics which is sure to tug at the heartstrings. With most songs on her latest release falling shy of the two and a half minute mark, I can only hope for some extended versions of the gems that are on ‘Be The Cowboy’.
Mitski has a history of performing emotive and rich renditions, classics such as ‘Your Best American Girl’ and ‘Last Words Of A Shooting Star’ are proven to be goosebump inducing aches in the best way possible. Hopefully there’ll be a few gutsy headbanger tunes in the setlist, ‘My Body’s Made of Crushed Little Stars’ is one that’ll definitely involve some jumping around.
Tickets for this event are sure to get snapped up pretty quickly so be sure the get one! If you’re a fan of St. Vincent, Japanese Breakfast or Angel Olsen I highly suggest you give Mitski’s back catalogue a listen.
