Bristol’s Simple Things Festival, is back for its 7th year this October. A collaboration of Bristol’s top promoters and venues, the event spans across multiple city centre venues creating a thriving line of activity – from Colston Hall and the 02 Academy to the The Island, Lakota, and others. Characteristically diverse, acts span from pop outfits, to heavy rock, grime and techno; musical styles interweaving as even the London Astrobeat Orchestra perform Talking Heads. Scene makers, and headliners this year, Leftfield, are playing their incredible debut Leftism in full. Die hard fans will celebrate their pinnacle contribution to 90’s dance music, while their intricate combination of styles makes them accessible and interesting to all.
Other favourites, Wild Beasts, will be performing one of their last ever shows before sadly disbanding. With their latest album, Boy King, a slinky piece of dark electronic pop-rock, we look forward to a highly charged live performance. Even Bristol rock heros, Idles, are performing, lunging in to us full force, no doubt pumped up from their recent support gig with Foo Fighters. There is plenty of homegrown talent, including lo-fi, fuzz artist Oliver Wilde, DJ Shanti Celeste and producers Kahn & Neek, while dance and techno from the likes of Daphni and Juan Atkins will keep you up all night.
A separate opening event on Friday the 20th, kicks off ceremonies at Motion, with what is sure to be an epic live set from electronic pop project, Metronomy.
Final release tickets available here.
