This is possibly the best time in history to see the definition-eluding duo. Between shows at the Hollywood Bowl and Green Man Festival, Wye Oak are bringing to Bristol their complex, layered synthephilia with an undeniable pop sheen.
Frontwoman Jenn Wasner seems to have made peace with her status as a guitar genius, so this will hopefully be a set that pulls from their earlier days of gut-churning electric missives as well as the current album’s prog-adjacent arpeggiated ennui.
In either mode, the pair’s sound could fill a planet-sized warehouse – so whether or not they blow the roof off the charmingly petite Louisiana; this is a band absolutely at the top of their game.
