Bristol’s longest serving independent ticket agent Bristol Ticket Shop (BTS) has announced that it will be closing its doors this year.

Announcing the news via Facebook, the music ticket agent, which has been serving both local and national shows in Bristol and the South West of England for over 30 years, confirmed the decision to cease trading was made due to recently hearing the news of a “debtor owing a large amount of money and unlikely to be able to pay the fee in a timely manner”.

Furthermore, BTS owner Zoe, who’s been representing the business alongside her management team, has fallen ill according to the statement, which has had a significant impact, leading to the difficult decision to close the shop.

The full statement as follows:

After more than 30 years being part of Bristol’s incredible music scene, Bristol Ticket Shop is sadly closing. We recently received the news that a debtor owing a large amount of money was unlikely to be able to pay in a timely manner, this has forced us to cease trading.

2 years ago the owner, Zoe became very ill. Her health has since deteriorated further, and this has also had a large impact on the resilience of the business and the decision to close.

All the staff here are devastated. We have loved working here. The history of the business is fascinating, from lines of people queuing all the way down the arcade to get their Glastonbury tickets (in the early days) to more recently having the privilege of selling tickets for Bristol’s biggest Pride event to date. The list of incredible events we have supplied tickets for is overwhelming. There are so many regular customers, old and new, that we have really enjoyed talking to over the years and will miss you all dearly.

We are working hard to make sure there is as little impact to the customer as possible and are instructing a 3rd party to negotiate with promoters with the aim to honour your tickets for future events. We are hopeful that they can achieve this however if this isn’t the case for any event, we will notify you and will advise you of how and when the tickets will be refunded.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their loyal custom over the years. It’s been a pleasure to be part of this amazing community for so long.
