Synthetica Event’s acclaimed music competition The Underdog returns to Bristol this summer following last year’s successful debut.

Offering an alternative to the traditional battle of the bands system, The Underdog will once again commence at The Thunderbolt for the heats with the semi finals taking place on 17th and 18th August at The Fleece. The grand final will now take place at O2 Academy on 3rd September, following last year’s successful sell-out at The Fleece which saw Bristol progressive metal band MYST crowned as winners, with White Noise Radio and Spark The Sail finishing in second and third respectively.

The Underdog continues its ethical ethos to provide bands with an alternative to the national competitions by treating bands with respect and ensuring everyone is paid fairly. More than just a popularity contest, the event focuses on rewarding the talent and hard work involved with being in a successful band.

The winner of The Underdog will received a £1,000 prize money with secondary prizes include studio time, video production, website design and photo shoots. Applications are now open, so if you’re a band looking to showcase your music then this competition is for you! Apply now via The Underdog website.

Ahead of the heats in June, The Underdog will be launching a warm-up show on Sunday 15th May, featuring last year’s runner’s up White Noise Radio with support from Dead Romantics, Feed The Fire, Thelema and more. Tickets and details are available here.
