We meet up once more with Aria Music for another live session hosted by Rob Short, who heads up the music school, and Ellie Goldsack. Under the theme of vocal development and maintenance we begin by discussing the physical, emotional and psychological factors which affect a singers performance and how to balance these while being free to create your music and improve your skills.
We also have a performance from singer-songwriter Olly Slocombe whose beautifully ornate acoustic guitar work carries a unabashed and honest lyrical delivery. The melancholy undertones, scattered falsetto and hopping momentum leave him somewhere between Coldplay and Jack Johnson. He is part of the new years special at the Fleece this December and treats us to three of his songs as a taster.
Next up we have a set from Laimu who recently released their second single ‘Barefoot’ having had their first release ‘Fruit’ featured on Jazz fm. Also they managed to find time to win the Boundless Breaking competition which saw them go on to support UB40. We have a stripped down two piece version of their six member band in the studio on this occasion. But they still manage to deliver that weightless feeling jazz, Neo-soul they do so well. With warm swooping vocals and soft touch nylon strung guitar it buoys along with groove pickled with funk touches.
