The raining season known as ‘April Showers’ has truly arrived and is here to stay for a while, so let’s all stay dry and check out these awesome new tracks this week.
Luvia – For You
Stripped down to the very core, debut track ‘For You’ from Brighton based singer-songwriter Luvia is strikingly beautiful. Luvia’s breathtaking vocal allows for calmness and clarity as her songwriting comes to life in spectacular fashion. A thrilling introduction.
Friendly Fires – Love Like Waves
Yes! Friendly Fires are back with a bang with this slick new tune, ‘Love Like Waves’. Undoubtedly Friendly Fires but flourishing into the realms of pop with sparkling guitars, synth and vocals that are simply gold. One big tropical twist.
Only Girl – Bittersweet
Fresh from playing at SXSW, r&b artist Only Girl is taking the year by storm. Her debut EP is out now and ‘Bittersweet’ the title track is simply perfection. Balanced production and lush harmonies that’ll swoon you in seconds. The song might be titled ‘Bittersweet’ but there’s certainly a lot of love here for the music.
Hatchie – Sugar & Spice
Brisbane based artist Hatchie has just announced her debut EP Sugar & Spice and is set to make her mark over on this side of the pond with a run of UK live dates next month. For now, have a listen to the EP’s title track which dazzles in lush dreamy vibes all round.
The Ornsteins – Glacial
We premiered this little gem yesterday from Breakfast Records forthcoming compilation release Breakfast 3. A short but perfectly sweet introduction to the bedroom pop vibes of Bristol’s The Ornsteins and a warming teaser of the whopping 43 track double disc album which comes out on 21st April.
Sam Brockington – Fool
Saving the best till last, and a welcoming return for Bristol based singer-songwriter Sam Brockington. ‘Fool’ is Sam’s first release this year and one that’s certainly a refreshing listen. Synergised rhythmes thanks to his accompany band and lyrics that are potent as ever but the most impressive feature is the vocal range – progressing from his past raw husky tones to something more mature and commanding. A promising light to what’s to come from the artist.
